What to Expect in a Pilates Session with Me

Updated: Aug 12

Walking into a Pilates studio for the first time can feel a little daunting. Maybe you’re experiencing pain, recovering from an injury or feeling stressed and disconnected from your body.

I want to reassure you that you don’t have to be flexible, strong or “ready” before you start. My studio is a space where you are met exactly where you are.

Start of the Session

When you arrive, we start with an informal chat. I want to hear what’s going on in your body, what feels challenging, what you hope to get out of the sessions, whether that’s easing pain, moving more freely or simply feeling calmer in yourself.

A Personalised Approach

Every session is a personalised one-to-one. I use the larger Pilates equipment such as the Reformer and Cadillac, alongside matwork using small props and breathwork. I’ll often assess how your muscles are working, sometimes gently muscle test what feels strong or weak and adapt exercises so they support your body safely.

Mind–Body Connection

Pilates for me isn’t just about physical exercise, it’s about reconnecting to your whole self. The breath is woven into every movement, helping to release tension and calm the nervous system and also support our entire musculoskeletal system. If appropriate, I may simple hands-on release techniques to help your body let go of holding patterns and also use some Reiki healing at the end.

A Safe & Supportive Space

Many people come to me with back pain, or an injury or simply with the aches of everyday life. Others come because stress and anxiety live in their bodies and they need a practice that feels both strengthening and soothing. Wherever you are, your session will move at a pace that feels supportive and not overwhelming.

How You’ll Feel After

Most clients leave feeling lighter, in less pain, more open in their body and calmer in their mind, often with an understanding of how to support themselves during their week. Sometimes the shifts are subtle, a little more space in your breath, a little less tightness in your back. Over time, these moments add up to greater strength, ease and confidence in how you move and live.

If you’d like to experience a session, I’d love to welcome you into my studio either in Hayes, Bromley or online. Please get in touch for further details: info@judekeren.com
